Food Safety Manager (Level 2) Training Options

Tuscarawas County offers in-person and online options for food safety manager level training for food service managers, operators, and owners with accurate, up-to-date information on all aspects of handling food, from receiving and storing to preparing and serving. Pre-registration with payment in full is required for all classes and examinations. Class sizes are limited. Class details will be emailed prior to the date of your registered training. Registration is nonrefundable but may be transferred to another class or online option if needed.

 


Manager (Level 2) In-Person Training

Upon successful completion of the course and exam, participants receive a ServSafe® Certificate and an Ohio Department of Health Food Protection Certificate. You must attend the entire training to take the exam. Registration fee is $175 (includes snacks). Lunch is on your own. Payment accepted by credit card at the time of registration, or payment may be mailed to our office. If payment is not received within two (2) weeks, your reservation will be released. 

Training and Exam Dates

Two training sessions will be offered in 2025. You must attend all sessions of the training chosen in order to take the exam. 

  • May 5, 6, 7: 9:00 AM-4:00 PM. May 13 (EXAM): 9:00 AM-11:30 PM
  • November 3, 4, 5: 9:00 AM-4:00 PM. November 12 (EXAM): 9:00 AM-11:30 AM

Manager (Level 2) Online Training (TAP)

Training Achievement Program (TAP) Series is an online food safety curriculum that meets all ODH Level 2 training requirements with no additional paperwork to complete. Participants receive a Certificate of Completion from TAP and an Ohio Food Protection Certificate from the Ohio Department of Health.

Completion of the online course can be done at your own speed and at a time that works for you. Once training is completed and you have earned the online program certificate of completion, you will take a proctored certification exam. Once payment has been received, you will receive your login and registration information from OSU and TAP. Payment accepted by credit card at the time of registration, or payment may be mailed to our office. Registration fee is $175 (includes examination).

recertification or Exam retake

Individuals must meet the following requirements to register for a recertification or to retake an exam:

  • Completed initial training with OSU Extension (either online or in-person) and it is time to recertify.
  • Completed your in-person or online training and need to retake the exam due to a non-passing score.

If you need to reschedule the exam date you have chosen, we will be happy to do so at no cost to you. Please contact Rebecca Gromley if you need to reschedule your exam. A registration fee is charged for both recertifications and exam retakes as we must purchase new exam paperwork for you. Registration fee is $50.
