June 1, 2020, kicks off another year of the Fit Youth Initiative Summer Walking Program. We are excited for you to see what we have in store for you! The program will provide you with opportunities to get outside, enjoy the fresh air, and visit new places all while following the current guidelines in place for social distancing.
Step Into Summer encourages participants to establish a healthy walking habit by tracking the extra steps taken each day. Earn toe tokens and a t-shirt by completing milestones throughout your journey. You can take your tracker to any participating partner location after July 1 to pick up the tokens you have earned.
You can view our Introduction to "Step Into Summer" at the link below.
This year we will be adding Virtual Adventure Hikes by video. Watch the videos, complete the survey, and earn additional toe tokens for participating. Join us for tips on where to go locally for a hiking adventure. Learn what you should have with you on a hike, trail etiquette and safety tips, how to keep kids engaged, an iconic snack recipe, and more. New videos will be posted throughout the summer on our Virtual Adventure Hikes page.
The summer walking program ends on August 15, and if you have completed the required 30 hours of walking, return your tracker to the Tuscarawas County Extension office by the August 21 deadline and you will receive a t-shirt.

If you would like to complete your tracker via your laptop or tablet, you can download a fillable PDF that can be completed and emailed to the Extension office. This is an excellent option if you do not have access to a printer.
