Below are the most received questions about using 4-H Online. Please feel free to reach out to us if you don't find your answer/question here.
Q: I already have children in a 4-H club. Do I have to do a paper enrollment or can I just add a member to our family profile?
A: Parents/Guardians who already have children in the database and who feel comfortable with the system can add a new child to their family and enter their enrollment. Those not comfortable doing so should complete a paper enrollment and we will be happy to create their profile for you.
Q: My children were in 4-H last year but I forgot the email to access their profiles in 4-H Online. Can I create a new profile?
A: ABSOLUTELY NOT! Duplicate profiles create a mess in the database that can be difficult to correct and will not be able to be combined to previous profiles for a complete 4-H member enrollment/project history. Contact our office and we can access your profile and give you the email or change it for you.
Q: I know my email but forget the password. Can I create a new profile?
A: ABSOLUTELY NOT! Duplicate profiles create a mess in the database that can be difficult to correct and will not be able to be combined to previous profiles for a complete 4-H member enrollment/project history. Contact our office and we can help you with a new password.
Q: My advisor said they can re-enroll our kids, she has our password; is that okay?
A: NO! The online 4-H membership form has built-in acknowledgements and consents that must be signed by a parent/guardian. Advisors are not to be submitting enrollments for members. Consider this: they would be signing your name to a legal document. Would you let them do this on other legal forms concerning your child?
Q: Can we just sign initials on the online forms for consents/acknowledgements?
A: No. The form requires a “signature” not “initials.” This is considered a legal document and must contain your name as if you were to physically sign a paper copy.
Q: What if my child decides to change or add a project and their enrollment has already been submitted?
A: No problem! Just give our office a call and we can change, add, or delete projects for you until the enrollment deadline.
Q: There’s a lot to complete on the paper enrollment form. Do I have to complete everything?
A. Yes. All areas are required for us to set up and complete the member’s profile.
Q: I was able to submit an enrollment after the deadline. Does that mean my child is enrolled in 4-H for this year?
A: Technically, no. As stated in the 4-H Family Guide, “Members can join 4-H anytime, but must join by the county’s enrollment deadline to be eligible for the full range of 4-H opportunities, including participation in county and state fairs.” The online profile will be sent back and the profile will be marked inactive for the current 4-H program year. The member will not be able to participate in county judging or fairs but can participate in club activities knowing that the 4-H year will not count toward 4-H membership.
Q: My children were in 4-H in another Ohio county before moving to Tuscarawas County. Should I create a new profile in 4-H Online?
A: No. We can contact your previous 4-H county and have your online records moved to our county so your child’s 4-H enrollment/project history stays complete.
