This year has been challenging for all of us, but none more so than our local high school seniors. Their last few months of their high school careers became chaos and uncertainty. They have had to face the challenges of schooling at home; cancellation of sports, class trips, musical concerts, academic and sports banquets, prom, non-school extra-curricular activities, and most importantly the right-of-passage of graduation. They will not be able to say goodbye in person to their teachers, classmates, and friends. No opportunities for that last hug or group picture. No formal event announcing the closing of one chapter of their lives and the beginning of the next. They will not have the memories that many of us cherish.

However, these young men and women have shown their resiliency. They have proven they can get the work done even if it’s not the “way it’s always been done.” They can Zoom with the best of professionals, sometimes even better. They have learned the critical life skill of changing outcomes by thinking outside the box. These seniors will have memories that none of us will understand but will always give them something in common with others across the country and throughout the world.

We are proud of all of you and wish all the best for your future. You, the Class of 2020, have shown what it takes to “Make the Best Better.”
